Oud aka Black Gold
One of the most expensive ingredients used in perfumery, oud has grown in popularity in recent decades in the West.
Oud comes from the Aquilaria trees native to Southeast Asia. When one of these trees is infected by a fungus, it creates a dark, fragrant resin to defend itself. The infected trees are cut down, and artisans use hand tools to carve away the pale, scentless part of the wood, leaving only the dark, resin-rich agarwood.
From this point, the wood is ground into a fine powder or small chips, soaked or fermented in water for days, boiled and the steam is carried through a tube where it cools and condenses into a liquid.
Due to the high demand and low quantity of this precious oil, oud is one of the most expensive ingredients used in the world or perfumery. Because the process to get it is so lengthy and hard to replicate, some brands opt to use synthetic alternatives while brands like Inito Parfums have their own private tree farm to grow the Aquilaria tree, creating sustainable jobs for the families who harvest this wood.
Oud for Grace - The Scent
Combining the psychoactive power of oud with the magical vibration of sacred geometry.
A smoother, more polished version of the iconic Oud for Greatness.
It starts out bright with bergamot paired with a juxtaposed black pepper note that gives the opening a spicy edge.
At the heart, you’ll find the praline and vanilla notes that add warmth and sweetness
The base notes of oud, creamy sandalwood, cedar wood and guaiac wood ground the fragrance and give it that classic signature scent the Black Gold Project — Oud for Greatness, Oud for Happiness, and Oud for Greatness Neo — is known for.
